Original Braunvieh in the Alpes

The performance potential of Original Braunvieh under extensive conditions is enormous. Most of the Original Braunvieh breeders feed their animals very restrictively based on grass and the utilization of concentrate is minimal. On top of that, many of the animals graze on high Alpine pastures in summer and prove their robustness there. Nevertheless, the animals have high milk and beef performances and are extremely long-living. Especially the durability of the udders over many lactations is impressive. Cows with ten lactations and more are no rarity. The breed also has a very strong dual purpose character. It’s excellent for the production of fattening calves or oxen.
