GUARD daughter Helga becomes champion in Zeewolde (NL)
The longtime top sire GUARD (Guarini x Leif x Mascol) is very popular in the Netherlands, especially due to the very high components and good fitness of his uniformly dark coloured daughters. One of his impressive daughters has now proven that GUARD can also produce show winners!
VVH HELGA 8, the 7th lactating GUARD daughter, became winner of the old cows and overall champion at the regional show in Zeewolde (NL) last week. The impressive cow with an extremely strong udder comes from the Van Veelen Holsteins farm in Biddinghuizen (NL). HELGA 8 was photographed once as a second calver in a tulip field and recently calved for the 7th time. Her average lactation production is 12,610 kg of milk with 4.25% fat and 3.57% protein in 305 days. This production level is approx. 11% above the farm's herd average. Until now, she has achieved a total lifetime production of 71,208 kg of milk with 4.35% fat and 3.58% protein.
We congratulate the breeders on this great cow!
In the last milk control year, GUARD's daughters were the cows having the most protein kg across all breeds and all lactations for the third time in a row. In the 4th lactation, the GUARD daughters produce an average of 11,200 kg of milk with 4.40% fat and 3.64% protein, resulting in a total of 493 kg of fat and 408 kg of protein (source: Veeteelt magazine, February 2023). So GUARD was and still remains the “protein champion” of the Netherlands!
